Description

Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PKD) causes easily damaged red blood cells and can cause anaemia and exercise intolerance. Affected dogs often die from severe anaemia or liver failure by five to nine years of age.

An autosomal recessive condition caused by a mutation in the PKLR gene.
