Foresight Health® Primary Open Angle Glaucoma
Our Foresight Health® single test for Primary Open Angle Glaucoma is ideal for breeders and owners who want the reassurance of genetic health testing.
Our DNA test results are accepted by the Kennel Club.
Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG) is an eye condition causing increased pressure in the eyes, causing enlargement and pain. If left untreated this can lead to nerve damage and vision loss.
An autosomal recessive condition caused by a mutation in the ADAMTS17 or ADAMTS10 gene.
This test is also included in the following Foresight Health® breed packages:
- Basset Griffon Vendeen Petit (Griffon Type)
- Basset Hound (Basset Type)
- Beagle (Beagle Type)
- Shar Pei (Shar-Pei Type)
The guideline turnaround time for single tests is approximately 10-12 working days after the swab arrives at the lab.
If you need more than two tests it is often more cost-effective to order the relevant Foresight Health® breed package.
