Foresight Health® Late Onset Ataxia


Our Foresight Health® single test for Late Onset Ataxia is ideal for breeders and owners who want the reassurance of genetic health testing.

Our DNA test results are accepted by the Kennel Club.

The guideline turnaround time for single tests is approximately 10-12 working days after the swab arrives at the lab.

Late Onset Ataxia (LOA) begins around two to nine months, and causes lack of coordination in the hind limbs and a 'prancing' gait. Eventually inability to stand results in a low quality of life and usually euthanasia.

An autosomal recessive condition caused by a mutation in the CAPN1 gene.
