Foresight Health® Thrombopathia


Our Foresight Health® single test for Thrombopathia is ideal for breeders and owners who want the reassurance of genetic health testing.

The guideline turnaround time for single tests is approximately 10-12 working days after the swab arrives at the lab.

Thrombopathia (TP) is a bleeding disorder caused by platelet problems resulting in an inability to clot. Affected dogs may have nosebleeds and bruise easily, as well as bleed heavily after injury or surgery. Dogs may also suffer haematomas (blood filled masses) and blood in the faeces. Most dogs will have a normal life expectancy but this condition should be noted to veterinarians in the case of surgery.

An autosomal recessive condition caused by a mutation in the RASGRP1 gene.
