Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCA) is an early onset progressive neurological disorder causing loss of balance and coordination as well as periods of muscle twitching which looks like seizures. Muscle twitching can get worse over time causing a tendency to overheat, and affected dogs are often euthanised due to quality of life.
An autosomal recessive condition caused by a mutation in the KCNJ10 gene.
